My 2025 Year In Review

Looking back, 2025 has been one of the most transformative years of my life, not because everything was perfect, but because so much changed, stretched me, and helped me grow.

This year was about movement in every sense of the word: moving across countries, moving out of comfort zones, and moving closer to the kind of life I’ve always imagined for myself.

A Year of Travel (and Perspective)

In 2025, I was fortunate enough to visit six countries, each one leaving its own mark on me.

I started the year traveling through the UAE and Azerbaijan, experiences that reminded me how diverse the world really is, even when places seem close on the map. Later in the year, I found myself returning twice to Pakistan, my home country. Those trips were grounding in a way that no other travel can be, reconnecting with family, roots, and the version of myself that shaped who I am today.

Europe, however, became the main stage of my year.

A New Chapter in Portugal 🇵🇹

One of the biggest milestones of 2025 was moving to Portugal on a Digital Nomad Visa. That decision alone came with months of planning, uncertainty, and more than a few “what ifs.” But once I arrived, it felt like the start of something right.

Portugal gave me space to think, grow, and slow down without losing momentum. I explored different cities, got familiar with new routines, and slowly started calling a foreign place “home.” It wasn’t always easy, but it was always worth it.

Spain – a couple of times 🇪🇸

Spain became a place I kept coming back to, mainly because my big brother lives there. Visiting it twice in the same year and staying with my brother made me appreciate it beyond the usual tourist lens. Different cities, different moods, different experiences, yet a familiar sense of warmth each time.

Traveling through Spain taught me that sometimes revisiting a place can be just as meaningful as discovering a new one.

Switzerland & WordCamp Europe 🇨🇭

One of the standout moments of 2025 was traveling to Switzerland to attend WordCamp Europe. Being surrounded by people from all over the world who share the same passion for WordPress and the open-source community was incredibly inspiring.

After the conference, visiting Interlaken felt surreal, one of those places that makes you pause and appreciate how big and beautiful the world really is. Mountains, quiet moments, and fresh perspectives, exactly what I didn’t know I needed at the time.

I also had the chance to meet people who’ve influenced my journey:

Matt Mullenweg

CEO of Automattic & WordPress Co-Founder

Matt Mullenweg, CEO of Automattic.com & WordPress Co-Founder

Meeting Matt was a surreal moment, a reminder of how far open-source and WordPress have come, and how powerful community-driven work can be.

Zach Tirrel & Matt Cromwell

StellarWP’s Former General Manager (Left) & StellarWP’s Former Senior Director of Customer Experience (Right)

Both have played an important role in my career and professional journey, and it was meaningful to finally meet them in person.

Lessons That Stayed With Me

If 2025 taught me anything, it’s this:

  • You don’t need everything figured out to take the first step
  • Growth often feels uncomfortable before it feels rewarding
  • Home isn’t just a place; it’s a feeling you carry with you
  • Consistency matters more than speed

There were challenges, moments of doubt, and days when progress felt slow. But there were also wins, big and small, that reminded me why I started this journey in the first place.

Looking Ahead

As the year comes to an end, I feel grateful for the countries I visited, the people I met, the lessons I learned, and the courage it took to say yes to change.

2025 was the year I trusted the process.

And if there’s one thing I’m carrying into 2026, it’s this belief:

When you keep moving forward with intention, the world opens up in ways you can’t always predict.

Here’s to more growth, more freedom, and more meaningful journeys ahead.
